A magic link is a unique URL sent to the user's email address that is used for authentication purposes. Instead of requiring a password, the user simply clicks on the link to log into the SingSaver website. In order to use the magic link login method, the user must already have an account with SingSaver.
Here's how it works:
- The user enters their email address and clicks on continue with email to sign in via the magic link method on the login page. (Fig 1)
- The system generates a unique URL containing a token and sends it to the user's email address.
- The user opens their email and clicks on the magic link. (Fig 3)
- The application verifies the token, authenticates the user, and redirects them to the SingSaver website.
- For security reasons, the magic link expires after 10 minutes or once it has been used.
Magic links provide a convenient way to authenticate users without the need for them to remember and enter passwords. It can also add an extra layer of security, as access is tied to the user's email account, which might have its own authentication measures in place.
